How to use: Enter each element of a building by choosing the relevant materials and thickness of a surface in mm or 1/16". Defaults to the TUFF+ SIP R-value which is much higher than traditional wood or stone/concrete.

"R-values are the opposite of “U-value” U-value represents the heat transfer through a material - so the lower the better - materials are specified with U-value which is why λ [W/mK] is the figure entered.

TECHNICAL: The unit of the U-value is W/m²K (watts per square meter and per Kelvin) and indicates the heat flow through an area of one square meter with a temperature difference of one Kelvin (= 1°C). The lower the U-value, the better the insulation effect, this is the opposite to R-value where higher R-value is better insulation.

NOTE: Heat transfer resistances of the air are not considered.
